Unlike a lot of the people i know I'm very hesitant to pick a favorite holiday. until last year i would have picked Halloween without a second thought on the matter. Sigh, once they develop that lovely little opinion the fun of costumes goes straight out the window. Don't get me wrong, i love that when I'm stumped for a dinner idea or afternoon entertainment i get to hear what the little voice wants. But i was under the impression that Halloween costumes, all cute and perfectly planned, were mine until at least kindergarten.

Boy was i wrong.

Let me give you a little back story here... Last year as soon as the fireworks were over I was busy searching and planning the uber adorable outfit that would be sure to provide just as adorable pictures and reactions for my family and friends. After what seemed like forever i found it, a garden gnome. with her bleach blonde ringlet curls and bright blues eyes it was IT. a tribute to perfection. (Not to mention my hard work.)

Then the Halloween superstore stole it all away.
Lily's BF (PS. check my intros post for acronyms) decided it would be a super idea to take her to a huge place where most of the costumes cater to her completely princess obsessed little tastes. I ll spare you the gory melt down both she and i had debating between gnome and "fairy princess" in the middle of the toddler section. Wasn't pretty. But, sigh, she won.

She spent Halloween in the costume she wanted, never mind the fact that we had to give up halfway though because she was freezing. BTW the outfit I picked had full sleeves and stocking... but whatever :)

This year I decided we would have none of this superstore nonsense. I would pick what would be not only weather appropriate but cute as heck too.

Problem is after countless hours of searching not one costume "speaks" to me the way the gnome did last year. (The gnome costume doesn't come in her size now..)

Is she doomed to be something unoriginal and generic for yet another year? I'll keep ya posted...
