Our wonderful new puppy got to come home today. He is a retriever lab mix, which according to my research is the number one family dog and also supposed to be an easy to train breed too.

Two months old and he already weighs as much as the bug does! She has apparently watched to much pageant nonsense (who am I kidding I love it) on tv and has named our dog PaTootie.

They had a blast playing today and now they are both asleep, her on the bed and him under it.

Most amusing part?

Last post I was questioning if 'd ever change diapers again... Well no diapers but looks like we are in for potty training round 2. :-)

I'm ridiculously overjoyed to announce the bug is POTTY TRAINED!!! freaking woot! :-)

I'm proud to say that I took "the plunge"... AKA... ran outta pull ups and decided it was now or never... luckily daytime was already very under control and nighttime has not been anything like i expected...

I'm an avid research parent and i read waaaay to many bed wetting horror stories. That being said I held off on the big girl panties at night for probably far to long... only to see that the very day we run out and i inform her that big girls sleep in their panties i get the oh sooo popular "Duh"...

Well, ok then, and so far no accidents at night... (largely due to the fact that for some reason she thinks the dora on her comforter will "bite her butt" i have no idea where this came from.)**
This whole potty training thing though has got me thinking.....

From the realization that i will never again change a bug diaper comes the question.... Will I ever change another diaper?

HONESTLY? No... i don't think so. The Bug is the best thing i've ever experienced but it wouldn't be fair to say I want another one. Sometimes i get baby fever. Of course. I see an expecting mom feeling her lil one kick, I'm green with envy, but not far behind that is the memory of the two and a half years after pregnancy.

Maybe I'm just not a baby person. There really is no maybe to that. Babies are just not my forte.
I do much better with dialogue, ninety nine percent of the reason I'm a fiction writer.

Is it selfish? Maybe.

Is it denying her a lifelong companion? Maybe.

Is it going to put either of us in therapy? Highly unlikely.

** Mid sentence- Bug had her first nighttime problem... helpful hint... whining doesn't mean bad dream... it means I gotta pee... lol...

Thoughts? Comments? Tips?

The wonderful world of potty training

Bug and i have been back and forth on the whole potty training deal for months. And when I start giving up the best thing happens... ALL DAY i didn't have to take her, not once... she did it all by herself! Woot!

Back from oblivion....

So i've started this little blog of mine posted a couple articles then totally fell off the face of the internet... oops.. well reasoning for that would be partially due to these.....

i decided since I had the oppurtunity to start over so would the look of Bugs room. Took way to long and i found out that i am sooo not going to join the crew of homemaker over folks but at least i have the benefit of knowing that shes probably just going to cover it in crayon and playdough despite my efforts anyways.

Unlike a lot of the people i know I'm very hesitant to pick a favorite holiday. until last year i would have picked Halloween without a second thought on the matter. Sigh, once they develop that lovely little opinion the fun of costumes goes straight out the window. Don't get me wrong, i love that when I'm stumped for a dinner idea or afternoon entertainment i get to hear what the little voice wants. But i was under the impression that Halloween costumes, all cute and perfectly planned, were mine until at least kindergarten.

Boy was i wrong.

Let me give you a little back story here... Last year as soon as the fireworks were over I was busy searching and planning the uber adorable outfit that would be sure to provide just as adorable pictures and reactions for my family and friends. After what seemed like forever i found it, a garden gnome. with her bleach blonde ringlet curls and bright blues eyes it was IT. a tribute to perfection. (Not to mention my hard work.)

Then the Halloween superstore stole it all away.
Lily's BF (PS. check my intros post for acronyms) decided it would be a super idea to take her to a huge place where most of the costumes cater to her completely princess obsessed little tastes. I ll spare you the gory melt down both she and i had debating between gnome and "fairy princess" in the middle of the toddler section. Wasn't pretty. But, sigh, she won.

She spent Halloween in the costume she wanted, never mind the fact that we had to give up halfway though because she was freezing. BTW the outfit I picked had full sleeves and stocking... but whatever :)

This year I decided we would have none of this superstore nonsense. I would pick what would be not only weather appropriate but cute as heck too.

Problem is after countless hours of searching not one costume "speaks" to me the way the gnome did last year. (The gnome costume doesn't come in her size now..)

Is she doomed to be something unoriginal and generic for yet another year? I'll keep ya posted...

Intro to the blogging world.

This first little post is purely informational... I'm a (mostly) SAHM to a 2 1/2 yr old who clearly does not understand that two and sixteen are different ages :)

A bit about me... I've always wanted to be a writer and after becoming close to obessed with mommy blogs I decided the next step on my little path should be to make my own.

Awe... The Lily Bug... She is my adorable little girl, only child, and spoiled rotten. But, she is quite a smartypants if I do say so myself :)

The BF... that is my acroymn for birth father/best friend because for Lily he is one and the same.

The Dragon Lady... is what I, very lovingly, call my mother. We've been to hell and back, I wouldn't trade a second.

And of course, Grandma and Grandpa... my grandparents whom Lily hadn't even met until a month ago. I thought she could possibly be more spoiled :)

Anyways, thats us. I hope you find this as entertaining as I do. Thanks for reading :)
